Mistral Upgrades Le Chat with Deep Research and Multilingual Features

Mistral Enhances Le Chat with Advanced AI Capabilities

French AI lab Mistral has rolled out major upgrades to its Le Chat chatbot, positioning it as a stronger competitor against established players like OpenAI and Google. The update introduces three groundbreaking features designed for both enterprise and individual users.

Deep Research Mode: An Intelligent Assistant

The new 'Deep Research' mode functions as a comprehensive research tool capable of planning, clarifying requirements, searching, and synthesizing data. According to Elisa Salamanca, Mistral's Product Director, this feature conducts broad online searches to provide specific answers to user queries.

"This function proves particularly valuable for personal travel planning and enterprise-level research projects," Salamanca noted during the announcement.

Enterprise-Grade Data Security

Unlike many cloud-based AI platforms, Mistral emphasizes local data processing for sensitive enterprise information. Salamanca explained that industries like banking, defense, and government often hesitate to upload confidential data to the cloud.

"Le Chat connects directly with internal enterprise systems," she said. "Users can leverage its deep reasoning capabilities while maintaining complete control over their data environment."

Multilingual and Project Management Features

The update also enhances multilingual reasoning, supporting languages including French, Spanish, and Japanese with seamless intra-sentence language switching. Additionally, a new 'Project' feature helps users organize conversations, documents, and ideas into dedicated workspaces.

Advanced Image Editing Capabilities

Le Chat now offers sophisticated image editing through simple commands like "remove this object" or "place me in another city." This functionality transforms the chatbot from a demonstration model into a comprehensive productivity tool.

Key Points:

  • Deep Research mode provides comprehensive online research capabilities
  • Local data processing addresses enterprise security concerns
  • Enhanced multilingual support with language-switching mid-sentence
  • New Project organization feature for workspace management
  • Advanced image editing through natural language commands
