Didi Launches AI Travel Assistant Xiaodi in Beta

Didi Introduces AI-Powered Travel Assistant Xiaodi in Beta

September 26, 2025 — Didi Chuxing has announced the public beta launch of its AI travel assistant, Xiaodi Beta v0.8, marking a significant step forward in smart mobility solutions. The new feature leverages artificial intelligence to understand user preferences and deliver customized transportation options.

How Xiaodi Works

Users can access Xiaodi by updating their Didi App to the latest version and searching for "AI ride" in the destination bar. The assistant supports both voice and text input, simplifying interactions. Based on detailed user requests—such as preferred vehicle type, budget, or special requirements—Xiaodi generates up to three tailored ride options. These recommendations incorporate real-time data like traffic conditions and estimated arrival times.

Beyond Traditional Ride-Hailing

Xiaodi represents a shift from conventional ride-hailing by first understanding user needs before suggesting solutions. During the beta phase, Didi encourages users to provide detailed requests to help the AI learn and improve. Beyond basic ride bookings, Xiaodi can assist with:

  • Weather checks for trip planning
  • Departure time recommendations
  • Vehicle suggestions for luggage-heavy trips

The goal is to create a seamless, intuitive experience that adapts to diverse travel scenarios.

MCP Service for Developers

Alongside Xiaodi, Didi has launched its Mobility Compute Platform (MCP), designed to empower AI developers. With minimal configuration, developers can integrate Didi's ride-hailing capabilities into their applications, enabling features like:

  • Autonomous trip planning
  • Real-time order tracking
  • Automated payments

The MCP currently supports various vehicle classes, including express, luxury, and private cars. Didi plans to expand MCP's applications while prioritizing safety and trust.

Key Points:

  1. Xiaodi Beta v0.8 offers AI-driven personalized travel solutions.
  2. Users can interact via voice or text for tailored ride options.
  3. The MCP service allows developers to build custom travel assistants.
  4. Didi aims to foster an open AI ecosystem through collaborative innovation.
