Deezer's AI Music Flood: 75,000 Daily Uploads Spark Industry Action

The Rising Tide of AI Music

Deezer's servers are working overtime these days, processing a staggering 75,000 AI-generated songs daily - that's roughly 44% of all submissions the platform receives. Imagine every minute bringing 52 new synthetic tracks vying for listeners' attention. Image

"We're seeing an unprecedented wave of AI content," says CEO Alexis Lajouanie in a recent blog post. "While technology opens exciting possibilities, we must ensure it doesn't drown out human creativity."

Platform Protections in Place

Here's the twist: despite dominating upload numbers, these AI tracks account for just 1-3% of actual streams. Why? Deezer has deliberately excluded them from recommendation algorithms. The platform isn't just filtering - it's implementing a multi-pronged approach:

  • Clear labeling of AI-generated content
  • No revenue sharing for synthetic tracks
  • Lower quality storage for non-human creations

"Listeners deserve to know what they're hearing," explains Lajouanie. "And artists deserve protection from having their work diluted by machine-generated content."

Industry-Wide Responses Emerge

Deezer isn't alone in this battle:

  • Spotify has begun actively removing suspect tracks
  • Apple Music requires explicit AI labeling
  • Bandcamp banned AI music outright
  • Qobuz automatically flags synthetic content

The numbers tell a sobering story: since launching detection tools in January 2025, Deezer's daily AI uploads have skyrocketed from 10,000 to today's 75,000.

Tech Arms Race Heats Up

The platform isn't just playing defense - it's going on the offensive with new technologies:

  1. Licensing its detection system (which currently spots Udio and Suno creations) to other companies
  2. Developing next-gen identification tools that don't require dataset training
  3. Exploring ways to distinguish between assistive AI (used by human artists) and fully synthetic content

"This isn't about resisting progress," Lajouanie clarifies. "It's about ensuring technology serves music rather than overwhelms it."

Key Points:

🎵 AI dominates uploads: Nearly half of Deezer's daily submissions now come from machines 🚫 Limited impact: These tracks represent just 1-3% of actual listening activity 🛡️ Protection measures: Labeling, revenue cuts, and quality restrictions aim to safeguard human artists 🔍 Detection advances: New tools can identify synthetic music without prior training data

AI Music Floods Deezer: Nearly Half of Daily Uploads Now Algorithmic

Deezer's latest report reveals a startling trend - 44% of daily song uploads now come from AI generators, totaling about 75,000 tracks per day. While these algorithmically-created songs flood the platform, they account for just 1-3% of actual listens. The streaming service has begun labeling AI content and adjusting its recommendation algorithms as industry concerns grow about copyright issues and potential royalty fraud. This surge raises fundamental questions about creativity's future in the digital music era.

Apple Pressured Musk's X to Fix Grok's AI Image Risks or Face App Store Ban

Behind closed doors, Apple warned Elon Musk's X platform that its Grok AI tool violated App Store policies by generating inappropriate images. Internal documents reveal a months-long battle where Apple repeatedly rejected X's content moderation fixes before approving a revised version. While incidents have decreased, recent tests show users can still circumvent safeguards to create explicit content.
