Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer NIO continues to ride strong momentum, announcing record-breaking third quarter results for 2025. The company delivered 87,071 vehicles between July and September - a remarkable 40.8% increase compared to the same period last year.
Staying Focused Pays Off
The Shanghai-based automaker saw revenue surge to ¥21.79 billion ($3 billion), setting new highs for both deliveries and financial performance. This success comes as CEO Li Bin reaffirms the company's commitment to its core business.
"We're staying firmly planted in the automotive sector," Li emphasized during a recent closed-door meeting with investors. "While we see tremendous potential in AI and robotics applications, our immediate priorities lie elsewhere."
Strategic Priorities Clear
NIO's leadership recognizes significant growth opportunities remain untapped in China's massive auto market. With annual sales exceeding 30 million vehicles nationwide, NIO currently captures just over 1% of this lucrative pie.
"We're laser-focused on product improvement and expanding our sales network," Li explained. The company plans to push three high-margin electric SUV models - the ES9, ES7, and Lade L80 - as it targets profitability by next year.
Interestingly, while ruling out direct involvement in robot development for now, NIO hasn't completely closed the door on AI applications. The company continues exploring how its proprietary chip technology might integrate with third-party robotics platforms.
Roadmap Ahead
The path forward appears clearly marked for NIO:
- Maintain momentum in EV production and sales

- Achieve overall gross margins of 20%
- Reach annual profitability target by end of 2026
