iFlytek's New AI Model Speaks 130 Languages, Outperforms GPT-5 in Math

iFlytek Unveils Next-Gen AI with Global Language Capabilities

Chinese artificial intelligence leader iFlytek made waves at its 2025 Global Developer Festival by introducing the Spark X1.5 model, its most advanced AI system to date. What sets this technology apart? The ability to understand and process an unprecedented 130 languages while outperforming even GPT-5 in specialized tasks like mathematical problem-solving.

Homegrown Powerhouse Unlike many AI systems relying on foreign infrastructure, X1.5 was entirely trained on domestic Chinese computing platforms. "This isn't just about language processing," explained Chairman Liu Qingfeng during his keynote. "It's about creating AI that truly understands cultural contexts across different regions." The model's improved training efficiency allows it to power smarter education tools, healthcare diagnostics, and multilingual business applications.

Technical Breakthroughs Under the hood, X1.5 uses an innovative Mixture of Experts (MoE) architecture with 293 billion total parameters. Despite this complexity, it runs efficiently on a single Ascend server - a feat comparable to fitting a supercomputer's power into a standard office machine. In practical terms? It solves International Math Olympiad problems that stump other AIs and delivers responses nearly twice as fast as its predecessor.

But raw computing power isn't the whole story. iFlytek engineers cracked two major efficiency challenges:

  • Increased deep reasoning training efficiency to over 84%
  • Developed the world's first non-autoregressive speech model architecture

The results speak for themselves in products like the updated iFlytek Input Method 15.0, where users experience noticeably smoother text prediction.

From Labs to Living Rooms Perhaps most exciting are the real-world applications already hitting the market:

  • X5 Smart Office Book: Can isolate voices in noisy cafes as clearly as quiet offices
  • Translation Earbuds: Achieve 97.1% accuracy even in crowded subway stations
  • AI Microphone Arrays: Transform ordinary conference rooms into smart meeting spaces

"We're past the stage of just talking about AI potential," Liu observed. "Now we're delivering tangible benefits - whether that's helping doctors analyze scans or letting travelers converse effortlessly across language barriers."

As nations race for AI supremacy, iFlytek's approach stands out by focusing on practical integration rather than just technical benchmarks. With X1.5 already powering products used by millions daily, the future of AI might just have a distinctly Chinese accent.

Key Points:

  • Multilingual Mastery: X1.5 supports 130 languages with industry-leading accuracy
  • Math Whiz: Outperforms GPT-5 on Gaokao math tests and Olympiad problems
  • Real-World Ready: Already deployed in office tools, translators, and healthcare systems
  • Homegrown Tech: Fully developed on Chinese computing infrastructure
