Dongguan Pioneers China's First AI Large Model Center for Manufacturing
On March 19, 2025, Dongguan, a prominent manufacturing hub in China, unveiled the nation's first city-level AI large model center focused on manufacturing. This initiative seeks to deepen the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) with industrial production, driving efficiency and intelligence across the sector.
Zeng Ming, Deputy Secretary-General of the Dongguan Municipal People's Government, emphasized that the center will bolster support for manufacturing enterprises, strengthening Dongguan's core competitiveness and global influence. The project is a collaboration between Dongguan Digital Group and Huawei, leveraging Huawei's robust software and hardware infrastructure.
The center provides three key services: computing resources, open models, and AI engineering capabilities. These offerings are designed to help manufacturers enhance model accuracy and accelerate their transition to intelligent operations with reduced data requirements and lower costs.

Computing Resources
Utilizing the infrastructure of the Dongguan Huawei Cloud Data Center, the center delivers secure and cost-effective AI computing power. This supports industrial upgrades and public services while facilitating the deployment of mainstream open-source large models in the industry.
Open Models
The center has introduced foundational models for natural language processing, computer vision, and predictive analysis. Additionally, it offers specialized models tailored to manufacturing, such as those for manufacturing knowledge and manufacturing vision, addressing real-world challenges faced by companies.
AI Engineering Capabilities
Through an AI development production line, the center provides model training and inference services. This significantly improves resource utilization efficiency, enabling companies to shorten application development cycles and bridge the gap between AI technology and production lines.
Looking ahead, the center aims to develop over 50 AI and advanced manufacturing demonstration application scenarios by 2025, with a target of exceeding 135 by 2027. This initiative marks a significant step forward in Dongguan's efforts to promote intelligent manufacturing and high-quality development.
