Tmall's Extended New Year Sale Brings Deep Discounts and AI Glasses Subsidies

Tmall Launches Extended New Year Shopping Festival

The annual Tmall New Year Goods Festival opened on January 4 with a significant twist - this year's event runs for a record-breaking 41 days, giving shoppers more time to snag holiday deals. Consumers can expect deep discounts starting at 8.8% off, potentially dropping to 7.7% when combining platform coupons.

Stackable Savings Across Categories

Popular sections like beauty and fashion get special treatment with category-specific coupons that stack with existing promotions. Loyalty pays off too - Tmall's premium 88VIP members receive additional exclusive discounts unavailable to regular shoppers.

"We've structured this year's festival to maximize savings opportunities," explains a Tmall spokesperson. "The extended duration means less last-minute shopping stress and more chances to find perfect gifts."

AI Glasses Breakthrough

In a notable first, AI-powered glasses have been included in China's national subsidy program for this shopping event. This recognition follows staggering growth - Tmall reports AI glasses sales surged over 15-fold in 2025 alone.

The subsidy comes as smart eyewear evolves beyond basic functions. Today's models offer real-time translation, navigation overlays, and health monitoring capabilities that are driving mainstream adoption.

Two-Phase Shopping Event

The festival unfolds in distinct stages:

  • Presale Period: Early birds can lock in deals before inventory runs low
  • Spot Sale: Immediate purchases continue through February 11

Merchants participating must offer minimum discounts ranging from 1% to 12%. To support sellers, Tmall provides marketing tools and shares some discount costs - creating win-win scenarios for businesses and customers alike.

Key Points:

  • Extended Duration: Unprecedented 41-day shopping window
  • Deep Discounts: Base prices drop to just over $90 per $100 spent
  • VIP Perks: Additional savings for loyalty program members
  • Tech Inclusion: AI glasses qualify for subsidies amid surging popularity
  • Merchant Support: Platform assists sellers with promotions and costs
