Roblox Introduces TikTok-Style Videos and AI Tools

Roblox Unveils TikTok-Style Video Feature and AI Enhancements

On Friday, Roblox announced the launch of Roblox Moments, a short video-sharing feature designed to capture and share game highlights. The feature, currently in testing for users aged 13 and older, allows clips of up to 30 seconds with added music and descriptions. Videos can be browsed in a scrollable feed, interacted with using emojis, and linked directly to the corresponding game experience.

Boosting Creator Earnings

Roblox has also increased creator earnings, raising the developer exchange rate by 8.5%. Now, 100,000 Robux converts to $380, up from $350. The company highlighted that the top 1,000 developers now earn an average of nearly $1 million, a 2.9x increase since 2020.

AI Tools for Enhanced Creativity

The platform introduced several AI-powered tools to streamline development:

  • Object Generation: Creators can now generate interactive objects (e.g., a drivable car) from text prompts like "a stylish futuristic red sports car."
  • Real-Time Voice Translation: Coming next year, this feature will support English, Spanish, French, and German.
  • Text-to-Speech & Speech-to-Text APIs: These enable immersive experiences, such as NPC dialogues or voice-activated commands (e.g., saying "fire" triggers an action).

Performance and Safety Upgrades

Roblox rolled out server authority mode to reduce cheating and improve physics realism. Character movements—like running and climbing—are now more natural. The company is also refining age estimation tools and partnering with the International Age Rating Coalition to implement content ratings amid ongoing child safety lawsuits.

Key Points:

  • Roblox Moments: A TikTok-like video feature for sharing game clips.
  • Higher Earnings: Creators now earn more from Robux conversions.
  • AI Innovations: Tools for generating interactive objects and real-time translation.
  • Safety Measures: Enhanced moderation and age ratings for content.
