MiniMax Launches Advanced Video Generation Model Hailuo 02

MiniMax Launches Advanced Video Generation Model Hailuo 02

XiYu Technology's MiniMax has made a significant leap in the video generation domain with the official launch of its Hailuo 02 model. This latest iteration builds on the success of its predecessor, offering unparalleled performance in handling highly complex scenes such as gymnastics movements. Since its demo webpage launch last August, MiniMax's Sea Snail video product has empowered creators to generate over 370 million videos, and Hailuo 02 aims to further democratize video creation by lowering barriers and enhancing quality.

Breakthrough Architecture: Noise-aware Compute Redistribution (NCR)

The core innovation behind Hailuo 02 is its Noise-aware Compute Redistribution (NCR) architecture. This technology enables a 2.5x improvement in training and inference efficiency at the same parameter scale. By optimizing compute resources, MiniMax can deploy larger parameter models without escalating costs for creators, thereby boosting the model's expressive capabilities. Additionally, the total parameter size of Hailuo 02 has been expanded to three times that of its predecessor, paving the way for more sophisticated outputs.

Enhanced Data Quality and Diversity

Leveraging feedback from creators using Hailuo 01, MiniMax has quadrupled the data volume for Hailuo 02, significantly improving both quality and diversity. This enhancement translates to better adherence to complex instructions and more realistic physical behaviors in generated videos. Creators can now produce native 1080p videos at competitive prices, making high-quality content creation more accessible.

Industry Recognition and Availability

In tests conducted by the Artificial Analysis Video Arena, an early version of Hailuo 02 secured the second-highest global ranking. The model is now fully integrated across MiniMax's Sea Snail Video platform, including the web interface, mobile app, and open API. It offers three versions:

  • 768p-6s
  • 768p-10s
  • 1080p-6s

MiniMax remains committed to providing industry-leading pricing and plans to roll out updates focused on generation speed, preference alignment, and advanced functionalities.

Key Points

  • Hailuo 02 introduces NCR architecture, improving efficiency by 2.5x.
  • The model supports native 1080p video generation at affordable rates.
  • Data volume has increased fourfold, enhancing instruction-following capabilities.
  • Ranked second globally in early tests by Artificial Analysis Video Arena.
  • Available in three versions across web, app, and API platforms.
