Claude Desktop Now Plays Nice With Major Cloud Platforms

Claude Expands Its Cloud Horizons

Anthropic has rolled out significant upgrades to its Claude Cowork platform, making it easier than ever for businesses to deploy the AI assistant across their existing cloud infrastructure. The new third-party API support covers all three major cloud providers - Amazon's Bedrock, Google's Vertex AI, and Microsoft's Azure AI Foundry.

Cross-Platform Flexibility

The update brings welcome news for IT departments juggling mixed environments. Claude Cowork now runs smoothly on macOS 13.0 (Ventura) and later, plus Windows 10 and 11 systems. Windows users should note one prerequisite: enabling the "Virtual Machine Platform" feature before installation.

For large-scale deployments, administrators can leverage familiar management tools:

  • Mac users: Jamf or Kandji for MDM configuration
  • Windows shops: Intune or group policies for bulk deployment

Developer-Friendly Interface

Gone are the days of cryptic configuration files. Claude's new graphical interface puts power tools within easy reach:

  1. Access "Developer Mode" through the Help menu
  2. Configure third-party APIs without login requirements
  3. Visually manage API keys, service accounts, and gateway URLs

The streamlined setup means even non-technical staff can handle basic configurations while giving developers deeper control when needed.

Collaboration Gets Smarter

The enhanced plugin system allows companies to tailor Claude to specific roles by mounting local directories containing custom skills and MCP servers. After setup, users gain two powerful new tabs:

  • Cowork: Team collaboration features
  • Code: Direct terminal access for programming tasks

Enterprise-Grade Security

For compliance-conscious organizations, the update delivers robust controls:

  • Customizable token usage limits
  • Telemetry data opt-outs via MDM policies
  • OpenTelemetry integration for real-time monitoring of prompts and tool usage

The comprehensive security features provide visibility while keeping sensitive data protected.

The complete MDM configuration guide (April 2026 edition) is now available through Anthropic's support portal.

Key Points:

  • Native support for AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure AI services
  • Simplified deployment across Windows and macOS environments
  • New visual interface reduces technical barriers
  • Enhanced plugin system enables role-specific customization
  • Enterprise security features meet strict compliance requirements
