China Launches First AI-Powered Standardization Model 'Tongdao'

China's AI-Driven Standardization Leap: Tongdao Model Goes Live

The China Electronic Standardization Research Institute has officially launched the internet version of Tongdao, China's first standardization-focused large language model. This development represents a significant step in implementing the "Artificial Intelligence + Standardization" strategy outlined in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's 2025 work plan.

Addressing Industry Challenges

For years, professionals working with technical standards have faced three persistent problems:

  1. Difficult retrieval - Locating specific standards within massive document libraries
  2. Slow writing - Creating new standardized documents manually
  3. Weak application - Implementing standards effectively across industries

The Tongdao model aims to transform this landscape through artificial intelligence.

Core Capabilities

The internet version offers four primary functions:

  1. Tongdao Q&A: Acts as an on-demand standardization expert with rapid response capabilities
  2. Tongdao Writing: Assists in drafting standardized documents and specifications
  3. Tongdao Interpretation: Provides explanations and contextual understanding of standards
  4. Tongdao Certification: Supports compliance verification processes

"This represents a paradigm shift from 'people finding standards' to 'standards finding people'," explained a project spokesperson.

Technical Foundation

The model leverages:

  • Decades of accumulated standard data from Chinese industries
  • Advanced natural language processing capabilities
  • Context-aware machine learning algorithms

The system reportedly achieves response accuracy exceeding 90% for common standardization queries.

Implementation Impact

Early adopters report:

  • 70% reduction in standard search time
  • 50% faster document preparation
  • Improved cross-industry compliance rates

The launch coincides with China's push to modernize its industrial standardization framework ahead of key 2025 manufacturing goals.

Key Points:

  • First domestic AI model specialized for standardization work
  • Developed by China Electronic Standardization Research Institute
  • Four core functions cover entire standard lifecycle
  • Part of national "AI + Standardization" strategic initiative
  • Expected to significantly improve industrial efficiency
