The Automation Impact
The retail giant has already eliminated approximately 28,000 positions since 2022, with further cuts expected. Jassy explained that AI now handles many warehouse and office tasks previously performed by employees. "Automation allows us to redeploy resources toward more strategic initiatives," he noted.
However, the CEO emphasized this technological shift isn't purely negative: "Every industrial revolution eliminates some jobs while creating others. We're actively hiring in AI and robotics - with over 500 such positions currently listed."

Despite workforce reductions, Amazon continues major investments in AI infrastructure. The company recently announced a $2 billion commitment to build new AI data centers in Pennsylvania. Workforce Transition Challenges
