Educational Impact and Accessibility

The launch addresses critical challenges in primary and secondary education:

  • Resource inequality: Provides professional-level math assistance regardless of location
  • Personalized learning: Offers tailored support at scale
  • Affordable access: Service costs just $0.15 per million tokens

"Our goal is to make technology a lever for educational equity," stated Duan Yitao, Chief Scientist at NetEase Youdao. "The Ziyue 3 Math Model proves powerful reasoning capabilities can be achieved affordably within specialized domains."

Development Background

Since introducing its first educational large model "Ziyue" in July 2023, NetEase Youdao has:

  • Rapidly expanded education sector applications
  • Developed multiple vertical solutions focused on mathematics
  • Committed to open-source sharing of technological advancements

The company emphasizes that AI should complement rather than replace teachers, aiming instead to democratize access to quality educational resources.

Key Points:

  1. Cost-effective solution: $26K training cost makes professional math AI accessible
  2. High performance: Outperforms larger models in mathematical reasoning tasks
  3. Educational equity: Ultra-low service costs enable widespread adoption
  4. Open-source approach: Encourages community development and innovation
