Xiaomi's AI Photo Editor Transforms Snapshots with Just a Sentence

Xiaomi's AI Magic: Edit Photos with Just Your Voice

Your smartphone just got smarter. Xiaomi's Super Xiao Ai assistant now lets users edit photos using nothing but natural language commands - no technical skills required.

How It Works

The new "Easy Photo Editing" feature arrives with version v7.8.50 and offers two simple ways to work:

  1. Voice commands: Wake up Super Xiao Ai while viewing a photo and speak your request
  2. Text instructions: Upload photos through the Super Xiao Ai app and type what you want

"Tell it 'beautify the portrait and blur the background,' and the AI handles everything," explains Xiaomi's camera product manager. "It achieves hair-level precision selections automatically."

The system uses Xiaomi's 7B multimodal model running locally on devices equipped with HyperAI technology. While processing happens quickly (about 5 seconds per edit), the system keeps things safe by:

  • Adding watermarks to edited versions
  • Preserving original photo backups

Real-World Performance

During tests, commands like:

  • "Turn this into an autumn masterpiece" produced high-saturation images with dramatic lighting
  • "Make this look professional" automatically adjusted colors and composition The AI understands complex requests involving multiple edits simultaneously.

Availability & Future Plans

The feature requires:

  • Album editor ≥v2.1
  • Album app ≥v4.3.0.30 Non-compatible devices can still access it through the Super Xiao Ai app.

Since launching in December 2024, Super Xiao Ai has expanded from basic translation features to this advanced visual editing capability. While Xiaomi hasn't announced pricing plans, industry watchers expect more cloud-based filters and templates soon.

Key Points:

  • Natural language editing: Describe changes instead of using sliders
  • Local processing: Works offline on HyperAI devices
  • Precision results: Achieves professional-level selections automatically
  • Growing ecosystem: Part of Xiaomi's expanding AI assistant capabilities
