Tongyi App Now Lets You Order Food Just by Talking

Tongyi and Alipay Create Hands-Free Food Ordering

Imagine ordering your morning coffee without lifting a finger - literally. That's now possible through Tongyi's latest integration with Alipay AI Pay, launched January 15. The feature transforms casual conversation into completed orders.

"Order me two lattes" or "Get me sushi for lunch" - these everyday phrases now trigger a sophisticated process where Tongyi's AI:

  • Scans nearby restaurants
  • Compiles order options
  • Processes payment through Alipay

All without leaving the chat interface.

The End of App Switching Headaches

The breakthrough solves what developers call "the last-mile problem" for AI assistants. While previous versions could recommend restaurants, they couldn't complete transactions securely. Now, with Alipay's payment infrastructure built directly into the conversation flow, users save an estimated 60% of the steps required in traditional food apps.

"We're moving beyond Q&A to actual task completion," explains a Tongyi spokesperson. "It's not just about answering 'where can I eat?' but handling everything from discovery to delivery."

How It Works: Simplicity Itself

The three-step process feels almost magical:

  1. Speak your craving ("I need pad thai")
  2. Review merchant options
  3. Verify payment (via facial recognition or password)

The system remembers preferences too - your usual coffee order might appear after just "Get me my regular."

The partnership hints at broader applications coming soon: ride-hailing tickets, grocery deliveries, even prescription refills could follow this voice-activated commerce model.

Key Points:

  • Seamless integration between Tongyi and Alipay enables complete transactions within chat
  • Voice-first interface eliminates tedious tapping and app switching
  • Security maintained through Alipay's verification protocols
  • Future expansions likely into retail, transportation and healthcare services
