Robotics Startup StarMap Hits $10 Billion Valuation
In a significant milestone for China's artificial intelligence sector, embodied intelligence company StarMap has officially joined the nation's exclusive club of hundred-billion-yuan valued startups following a massive Series B funding round.
Funding Details
The company announced today it secured 1 billion yuan ($140 million) in its latest funding round, with Jinding Capital, BAIC Industrial Investment, and Zhengxin Valley Capital leading the investment. Existing backers including Meituan Longzhu and Hillhouse Capital also participated.
This injection brings StarMap's total fundraising to nearly 3 billion yuan since its September 2023 founding. The valuation now exceeds 10 billion yuan, making it China's fourth embodied intelligence unicorn after YuShu, Zhiyuan, and Galaxy General.
Technology and Traction
StarMap has taken an innovative "system + intelligence" approach combining hardware and software development. Founder and CEO Gao Jiyang shared ambitious plans: "By late 2026, we expect to demonstrate complete human replacement capability for specific tasks."
The company isn't just talking - they're building real-world proof points:
- Accumulated 100,000 hours of operational robot data
- Coverage across five major scenarios (homes, factories, supermarkets among them)
- Thousands of orders secured for their R1 series wheeled dual-arm robots
- Impressive client roster including Stanford University researchers and tech giants Huawei and BYD
Future Roadmap
The fresh capital will fuel expansion beyond StarMap's current developer market focus. The company plans aggressive moves into:
- Intelligent manufacturing facilities
- Logistics operations centers
- Commercial service applications
Simultaneously, StarMap is cultivating an ecosystem through strategic investments. Their partner network is projected to grow to about 20 companies by 2026, focusing on solving two critical challenges:
- Diverse data collection methods
- Vertical scenario-specific solutions
The robotics firm appears well-positioned as China's AI sector matures from theoretical research toward practical industrial applications.
Key Points:
- Valuation milestone: Joins elite group of Chinese AI unicorns at >10B yuan valuation
- Technology validation: Real-world deployments with major academic/industrial partners
- Growth strategy: Expanding from developer tools to full industry solutions
