Shanghai University Unveils AI-Powered Financial Education Model

Shanghai University of Finance and Economics has taken a significant leap in financial education with the launch of its groundbreaking 'Kuangshi Financial Education Large Model.' The announcement came during a recent conference in Shanghai, where academics and industry leaders gathered to explore the future of digital finance.

The new AI platform represents a strategic fusion of financial expertise and cutting-edge technology. Professor Zhang Liwen from the School of Statistics and Data Science explained how the model leverages the university's strong financial discipline background while incorporating multimodal data sources. These include textbooks, academic papers, and real-world corporate financial data, all integrated into a comprehensive knowledge graph.

Technologically, the university has achieved several firsts. They developed China's inaugural Fin-R1 financial large model alongside creating FinEval, a specialized evaluation system for financial AI models. The 'Kuangshi No. 1' computing cluster provides the necessary infrastructure, ensuring smooth operation through dynamic resource allocation.

The model operates on a dual-track approach:

  • Tech-Education Integration: Features intelligent applications for teaching assistance, learning support, research facilitation, and administrative tasks
  • Industry-Education Collaboration: Partners with leading companies to create innovation platforms that bridge academic theory with practical business needs

Looking ahead, the university plans to expand its industry partnerships while focusing on interdisciplinary research in financial AI. This initiative aims to produce graduates equipped with both technical proficiency and practical business acumen—precisely what modern financial institutions demand.

Key Points

  1. The Kuangshi model integrates diverse financial data sources into a standardized knowledge graph
  2. Includes China's first Fin-R1 large model and FinEval evaluation system
  3. Powered by the high-performance Kuangshi No. 1 computing cluster
  4. Combines educational technology with real-world industry applications
  5. Part of broader strategy to modernize financial education through AI
