PolyU and Ant Digital Partner to Advance AI and Web3 Technologies

On July 29, Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and Ant Digital signed a strategic agreement to establish the "PolyU-Ant Digital AI+Web3 Joint Laboratory." This collaboration seeks to pioneer breakthroughs in artificial intelligence (AI) and Web3 integration, fostering innovation and technological advancement.

Strategic Collaboration Details

The joint lab will focus on three core technical areas:

  1. Trusted AI Agents: Enhancing reliability in AI-driven systems.
  2. AI-Enhanced Blockchain Security: Strengthening frameworks for secure digital transactions.
  3. Data Privacy and Verifiable Technologies: Ensuring transparency and security in data handling.

Ant Digital has committed HKD 100 million over the next three years to support research, project incubation, and talent development. The lab will also create an "AI + Web3 Education Fund Platform," leveraging PolyU's academic strengths and Ant Digital's industry expertise to cultivate high-level digital talent in Hong Kong.

Leadership Perspectives

Professor Teng Jingguang, President of PolyU, emphasized the lab's role in advancing Hong Kong as a global tech hub:

"This partnership accelerates the fusion of AI and Web3 technologies, driving impactful innovations for the digital economy worldwide."

Zhao Wenbiao, CEO of Ant Digital, highlighted the practical applications:

"Our collaboration with PolyU bridges academia and industry, enabling scalable solutions for real-world challenges."

Jing Xiandong, Chairman of Ant Group, reaffirmed the company's commitment to Hong Kong:

"We believe this initiative will propel Hong Kong’s growth as a leader in tech, finance, and trade."

PolyU’s Academic Leadership

PolyU is a global leader in blockchain and AI research. In 2022, it was ranked the top blockchain university worldwide by CoinDesk. Earlier this year, PolyU consolidated its expertise by forming the School of Computer Science and Mathematics, offering cutting-edge courses in AI, blockchain, and metaverse technologies.
