The company is introducing two new C-suite positions—Chief AI Officer (CAIO) and Solution Revenue Officer (SRO)—effective April 1, marking its most significant reorganization in recent years.

Meet the New Leadership

Akira Sakakibara steps into the newly created CAIO role, tasked with spearheading Panasonic's AI ambitions. His mandate? To weave artificial intelligence deeper into both customer-facing products and internal operations. "We're not just talking about incremental improvements," explains a company spokesperson. "This is about fundamentally transforming how we solve problems—for our clients and ourselves."

The CAIO's responsibilities break down into two key areas:

  • Customer solutions: Developing AI-powered answers to real-world challenges clients face daily
  • Operational efficiency: Streamlining everything from manufacturing to office workflows through intelligent automation

Meanwhile, Hirofumi Suzuki takes the helm as SRO—a position focused squarely on the bottom line. His cross-functional role aims to tear down silos between departments, ensuring Panasonic maximizes profits from its integrated hardware-software offerings.

The timing isn't accidental. As global tech competition intensifies, traditional electronics firms face mounting pressure to innovate or risk obsolescence.
