Kimi AI Partners with Xiaohongshu to Boost Content Creation

Kimi AI Expands Reach with Xiaohongshu Integration

Moon's Dark Side subsidiary Kimi has announced a new collaboration with Xiaohongshu, introducing a chat entry on the platform's "Xiaohongshu · Kimi Intelligent Assistant" account. Users can now jump directly to a chat interface and generate notes with a single click. However, initial tests by Silicon Base Lab reveal this feature currently operates as a lightweight access channel, lacking deeper integration with Xiaohongshu's broader ecosystem.

Strategic Shift Amid Changing Priorities

The partnership builds on existing ties—Xiaohongshu participated in Kimi's $1 billion Series A funding round in 2024. The companies previously co-launched the "AI Rookie Village" event. This latest development reflects Kimi's pivot from traffic-driven growth to a "content + community" strategy. Data indicates Kimi slashed its Q1 2025 flow budget to 150 million yuan, just one-third of the previous quarter's expenditure.

Broader Ecosystem Expansion

Beyond Xiaohongshu, Kimi has been actively forging partnerships. A recent collaboration with Caixin Media incorporates financial data to enhance model reliability. The Xiaohongshu integration suggests Moon's Dark Side aims to leverage social relationships for greater user retention. While current features remain cautiously implemented, industry observers are watching for potential deeper platform integration.

Will this content-focused approach help Kimi stand out in China's crowded AI market? The answer may depend on how quickly these partnerships evolve beyond surface-level features.

Key Points

  1. Kimi launches chat feature on Xiaohongshu for streamlined content creation
  2. Partnership reflects strategic shift from traffic acquisition to content/community focus
  3. Budget cuts signal changed priorities—Q1 spending dropped 66% year-over-year
  4. Additional collaborations (like Caixin Media) show diversified ecosystem approach
  5. Current integration remains lightweight; deeper platform synergy could follow
