A Market Divided

Walk through any American mall and you'll spot the sleek designs of Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses. But check online shoppers' carts, and you'll find a different story unfolding. While Meta maintains its grip on the premium segment with its $300+ models, Huaqiangbei manufacturers are cleaning up in the budget category with glasses priced as low as $80.

"It's classic market polarization," explains tech analyst Mark Chen. "You've got brand-conscious buyers sticking with established names, while value-focused consumers discover they can get similar core features for a fraction of the price."

Features That Sell

The winning formula from Shenzhen? Pack multiple functions into affordable frames:

  • Camera capabilities: Most models now include at least an 8MP camera
  • Audio quality: Decent speakers rivaling premium brands'
  • Battery life: Many offer full-day use on single charge

The AR functionality that gets so much press? Surprisingly not a big seller yet due to higher costs and limited practical applications.
