AliQwen Steps Into Wearable AI With Smart Glasses Launch
Alibaba Takes Qwen AI From Phones to Your Face
Alibaba's popular Qwen AI assistant is getting a physical makeover. The company announced its first foray into wearable technology with a lineup of AI-powered devices, headlined by smart glasses set to launch at Mobile World Congress next year.
Hands-Free Help Coming Soon
The Qwen-branded smart glasses will hit the market March 2, 2026 following their Barcelona unveiling. They'll be joined by companion devices including smart rings and earbuds - all designed to bring Alibaba's digital assistant off smartphone screens and into real-world interactions.
"This isn't just about putting AI in new gadgets," explains tech analyst Ming Zhao. "Alibaba wants Qwen to understand physical contexts - what you're looking at, where you are, even your body language."
The glasses will integrate core Qwen services like food delivery and transportation directly into the heads-up display. Early demonstrations show users simply looking at restaurants to see menu options or glancing toward the street to hail rides.
From App Phenomenon to Hardware Player
Qwen's rapid adoption paved the way for this hardware expansion. During Lunar New Year celebrations:
- 1 in 10 Chinese citizens used Qwen for holiday tasks
- The platform processed nearly 200 million voice commands
- Daily active users surpassed 73 million
The numbers reveal why Alibaba sees wearables as the next frontier. "When an AI becomes this ubiquitous," notes Zhao, "controlling how people access it becomes crucial."
Spatial Computing Arms Race Heats Up
Alibaba joins Apple, Meta and others betting on spatial computing - where digital interfaces blend seamlessly with physical environments. Their approach differs by building on an already-popular AI rather than creating new ecosystems.
The hardware push also reflects generative AI's evolution beyond chatbots. Future versions could:
- Anticipate needs based on surroundings
- Initiate actions without explicit commands
- Blend multiple services automatically
For now, all eyes are on Barcelona next February when the glasses make their debut.

- Product Launch: Qwen smart glasses debut MWC 2026, pre-orders open March 2
- Ecosystem Play: Part of broader wearable strategy including rings and earbuds
