Ant Tech Launches AI+ Innovation Lab to Drive Industry Integration
At the 9th Digital Finance and Financial Security Conference on June 10, Ant Technology Group announced a major upgrade to its research facility. The former "Digital Identity Security Lab" has been transformed into the "Artificial Intelligence + Industrial Innovation" Lab, marking a strategic shift toward AI-driven industrial solutions.
The unveiling ceremony featured prominent figures including Zhou Yanli, former vice chairman of China's Insurance Regulatory Commission, and Professor Shen Changxiang from Beijing University of Technology. The event also saw participation from government officials and industry leaders, signaling strong institutional support for this initiative.
Strategic Focus on Industrial AI Ant Tech's move comes as part of its broader AI strategy rollout this year. The company has already introduced enterprise-level large model products tailored for financial services and renewable energy sectors. Their financial intelligent agent platform, Agentar, offers over 100 core services enabling no-code development of secure financial applications.
For the energy sector, Ant Tech developed EnergyTS - an AI-powered time series model that outperforms predictions by tech giants Amazon and Google in photovoltaic and wind power forecasting accuracy.
Four-Pronged Research Approach The upgraded Taurus Lab will concentrate on four key areas:
- AI + Data infrastructure
- AI + Security solutions
- AI + Financial applications
- AI + Embodied Intelligence systems
The lab plans collaborative projects with Tsinghua University and Zhongguan Village Internet Finance Research Institute to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial implementation.
"AI innovation is the driving force behind enterprise transformation in the age of large models," stated Wang Wei, Ant Tech's CTO. "Our lab aims to become an engine for industrial AI breakthroughs while fostering university-industry partnerships."
Proven Track Record The Taurus Lab brings significant credentials to this new chapter. As Google's sole authorized biometric security testing facility for multiple years, it has contributed to over ten international standards including IEEE's face recognition benchmarks. Its research papers regularly appear in top-tier conferences like CVPR and AAAI, with one project winning China's prestigious Wu Wenjun AI award.
