Ant Group, Peking University Third Hospital Launch AI Medical Lab

Ant Group and Peking University Third Hospital Partner on AI Healthcare

Ant Group has entered a strategic partnership with Peking University Third Hospital (PUMC) to establish an AI Medical Joint Innovation Laboratory. This collaboration aims to merge PUMC's clinical expertise with Ant Group's advanced AI capabilities to drive innovation in medical diagnostics and patient care.

Focus Areas and Objectives

The joint laboratory will initially concentrate on three key medical fields:

  • Colorectal cancer
  • Endocrinology
  • Assisted reproduction

The partners plan to tackle challenges in AI-assisted diagnostic decision-making and develop comprehensive patient service systems. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, they will research medical multimodal large models and AI-assisted clinical diagnosis technologies.

Dr. Fu Wei, President of PUMC, stated: "We aim to accelerate the transformation of AI research into clinical applications. This partnership will address complex diagnostic challenges while providing patients with more precise and efficient medical services."

Intelligent Agent Development

A significant outcome of this collaboration is the development of the PUMC Intelligent Agent, which will be deployed on Ant Group's AI Health Assistant AQ platform. This digital assistant will provide:

  • Appointment scheduling assistance
  • Treatment guidance
  • Post-treatment management support

The initiative aims to equip every PUMC patient with a personalized AI healthcare companion, potentially revolutionizing patient experience and hospital efficiency.

Industry Impact

Liu Junwei, General Manager of Ant Group's AI Healthcare division, emphasized: "Simplifying healthcare access aligns with Ant's vision. We're committed to leveraging our medical large model technology to serve patients, doctors, and hospitals effectively."

This partnership represents a significant step in bridging the gap between technological innovation and clinical practice. By combining PUMC's medical expertise with Ant Group's AI capabilities, the collaboration could establish new standards for AI implementation in healthcare.

Key Points:

  1. Strategic partnership creates AI Medical Joint Innovation Laboratory
  2. Initial focus on colorectal cancer, endocrinology, and assisted reproduction
  3. Development of PUMC Intelligent Agent for patient support services
  4. Integration of clinical expertise with advanced AI technology
  5. Potential model for future industry-academia-research collaborations
