Ant Group Bets Big on AI with New Incentive Program

Ant Group Launches Bold AI Incentive Program

In a move signaling its serious commitment to artificial intelligence, Ant Group unveiled an innovative "AI Credit" program on February 2. CEO Han Xinyi announced the initiative through an internal email, framing it as part of the company's broader push toward organizational AI adoption.

Rewarding Innovation

The program offers substantial incentives for teams and individuals driving pioneering work in AI. What makes it unique? Successful projects that enhance company value within two years can convert these credits into economic benefit rights (SERs), creating what Ant describes as a "shared risk and reward" mechanism.

Progress Amidst Humility

Han highlighted several achievements while maintaining remarkable candor about Ant's position:

  • Bailin Large Model Family: Now includes 18 models reaching trillion-parameter scale
  • Lingguang AI Assistant: Ranked among industry top ten
  • Ant Afu: Surpassed 30 million monthly active users
  • Embodied Intelligence: Open-sourced four large models bridging digital and physical worlds

Yet the CEO called these merely "small victories," acknowledging Ant remains a "follower" in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.

Strategic Focus Areas

The company has identified three pillars for its next decade:

  1. Payments: Already implementing AI upgrades like "Alipay AI Pay" enabling voice-activated services
  2. Finance: Exploring new AI-driven financial products and services
  3. Healthcare: Developing intelligent health solutions building on existing platforms

The Spring Festival saw early fruits of this strategy when Alipay integrated its traditional "Collecting Blessings" event with AI capabilities through Ant Afu.

Key Points:

  • Ant Group launches "AI Credit" incentive program rewarding impactful AI contributions
  • Successful projects can convert credits into long-term economic benefits
  • Company celebrates technical achievements but acknowledges competitive challenges
  • Payments, finance, and healthcare form core of Ant's future AI strategy
  • Practical implementations already underway including voice-activated payment features
