Pocket FM Launches AI Tool to Accelerate Audio Series Production
Pocket FM Debuts AI Writing Assistant to Speed Up Audio Series Creation
Pocket FM, an India-based audio series platform backed by Lightspeed Venture Partners, has launched CoPilot, an AI-powered writing tool designed to accelerate content production. The move aligns with the company's ambition to become the "Netflix of audio" by rapidly scaling its library of episodic content.
How CoPilot Enhances Content Creation
The tool offers writers features such as:
- Episode-ending suggestions to improve engagement
- Narrative-to-dialogue conversion for smoother scripting
- Beat analysis to tailor writing styles by genre
- Basic text generation functions including summarization and expansion

Founder Rohan Nayak explained that CoPilot was developed after analyzing thousands of data points on user engagement patterns. "The AI can suggest ways to increase character conflict or recommend more exciting endings," Nayak noted. The tool also generates character bios, relationship maps, and plot summaries for writer reference.
International Expansion Powered by AI Localization
The company has deployed adaptation tools that not only translate content but also modify cultural references for target markets. Early results in Germany show:
- 50% increase in writer productivity
- Reduced error rates in drafts
- Improved user retention metrics

In the U.S., series created with AI assistance now account for 10% of total playback time, generating $7 million in revenue over the past year while reducing production costs by 2-3 times.
Future Developments and Challenges
Pocket FM plans to launch its own large language model (LLM) next year, integrating various content creation tools. However, the AI adoption has raised concerns:
- Multiple rounds of layoffs affecting employees and contractors
- Decreasing writer incomes reported over time
- Potential quality issues from AI-generated content saturation
The company maintains that all content undergoes rigorous AI-driven quality checks before publication. "Our tools help writers make targeted improvements rather than complete rewrites," a spokesperson stated.

The platform currently releases nearly 1,000 pilot episodes monthly, with plans to expand into comic strip and potentially video formats through its Pocket Toons division.
Key Points:
- Pocket FM's CoPilot reduces audio series production time through AI-assisted writing
- Localization tools have driven successful expansion in Germany and the U.S.
- Company plans proprietary LLM launch in 2026
- Concerns persist about job impacts and content quality control
- Monthly output approaches 1,000 episodes with multi-format expansion planned
