Google Smartwatch Integrates Gemini AI with Enhanced Search

Google Smartwatch Embraces Gemini AI with New Features

Google has announced the official integration of its Gemini AI assistant into Wear OS smartwatches, a move anticipated since May this year. The update also includes significant enhancements to the 'Circle to Search' feature, designed to streamline user interactions and improve search functionality.

Expanded Device Compatibility

The Gemini feature will be available in the coming weeks on smartwatches running Wear OS 4 or higher, including devices from Pixel, Samsung, OPPO, OnePlus, and Xiaomi. Users can activate Gemini by saying "Hey Google," pressing the side button, or tapping the Gemini app icon. This hands-free functionality is ideal for multitasking scenarios, such as cooking or planning outdoor activities.

Enhanced Search Capabilities

Google has revamped the 'Circle to Search' feature, now supporting gestures like circling, drawing, or tapping on-screen content. The new AI mode enables users to explore complex topics and ask follow-up questions without leaving the app. An "AI Overview" provides additional context for queries initiated through this feature.

Cross-Platform Accessibility

The upgraded AI mode in Google Lens is now available for both Android and iOS users, though currently limited to the U.S. and India. Gamers can leverage this feature to identify characters or strategies directly from their mobile devices.

Exclusive Subscription for Pixel Users

Google also introduced a one-year Google AI Pro subscription for Pixel 9 Pro users. This service generates short videos with natural audio based on user descriptions, offering a creative tool for content creators.

Key Points

  • Gemini AI is now live on Wear OS smartwatches.
  • 'Circle to Search' receives an AI-powered upgrade for seamless queries.
  • Feature availability spans multiple brands, including Pixel and Samsung.
  • Google Lens AI mode optimized for Android and iOS.
  • Pixel 9 Pro users gain access to exclusive AI video generation tools.
