The cybersecurity giant achieved staggering cost reductions of 40-70% across its multi-cloud environment by implementing Cast AI's automated Kubernetes platform.

The Cloud Cost Challenge With companies projected to waste $44.5 billion on unnecessary cloud expenses this year alone, Akamai faced particular pressure as a provider handling sensitive security operations. Their complex infrastructure required constant optimization without compromising on speed or compliance requirements. "When responding to security incidents, every second counts," explains Dekel Shavit, Akamai's Senior Director of Cloud Engineering.

AI-Driven Optimization The solution came through Cast AI's autonomous agents that continuously analyze and adjust Kubernetes workloads. Instead of monthly manual adjustments by DevOps teams, hundreds of AI agents now optimize configurations every second. The platform automatically selects the most cost-effective compute instances, scales resources dynamically, and redistributes workloads efficiently.

Shavit highlights the immediate impact: "We gained clear cost analysis within two minutes - something previously impossible." By leveraging Spot instances and intelligent workload placement, Akamai not only cut costs but improved operational responsiveness to traffic spikes.

Beyond Cost Savings Perhaps the most valuable outcome was the shift in team focus. With Cast AI handling infrastructure management automatically, Akamai's engineers redirected their efforts toward innovation. "Our team spends zero time managing infrastructure now," Shavit notes. "We're delivering new features faster while maintaining rigorous performance standards."

The platform's deep Kubernetes automation extends beyond simple scaling. It performs real-time cost/performance tradeoff analyses across multiple cloud providers, ensuring optimal resource allocation even during unpredictable demand fluctuations.
