Zoom Unveils AI Companion Upgrades to Boost Workplace Efficiency
Zoom has announced a significant upgrade to its AI Companion, transforming it from a personal assistant into a fully-fledged intelligent agent. The new features are designed to enhance user interaction and productivity during video meetings, with a focus on automating tasks and improving collaboration.
One of the standout additions is Zoom Tasks, which identifies to-dos from meeting summaries, chat logs, and emails. This feature can automatically complete tasks such as scheduling follow-up meetings or generating documents. Zoom Tasks is expected to launch later this month and will be integrated into Zoom Docs.
Another notable feature is a voice recorder accessible through the Zoom Workplace mobile app. This tool transcribes, summarizes, and captures offline conversations for later review, making it easier for users to stay organized.
To keep meetings on track, Zoom is introducing a Meeting Agenda feature. Hosts can set timers for different topics and receive AI-generated real-time notes during the meeting. This feature, along with the voice recorder, is slated for a May launch.
For hybrid work environments, Zoom is rolling out an AI-powered Workspace Booking feature. This tool displays colleagues' office attendance, suggests optimal attendance days based on existing meeting schedules, and even books meeting rooms or desks. This feature is also planned for a May release.
Zoom Docs will also see enhancements with the addition of an Advanced Referencing feature (June launch). This helps build writing plans from internal and external references and integrates them into documents. Additionally, a data table creation feature (July launch) will allow users to request the AI assistant to create data tables from content, including meeting summaries.
For users seeking more tailored AI support, Zoom will launch a Custom AI Assistant add-on in April. This allows customization of features such as creating custom meeting templates, meeting summary templates, and building glossaries. The add-on will cost $12 per user per month.
All these new features remain free for paid Zoom users. With these innovations, Zoom continues its commitment to boosting workplace efficiency across various sectors, including industry-specific applications for frontline workers, healthcare professionals, educators, and more.
