On September 20, at the 2026 Qiyuan Robotics Global Product Launch, a consumer robotics brand under Shangwei New Materials took the wraps off two very different humanoid machines: the Qiyuan Q1 and Qiyuan T1.

Peng Zhihui — better known as Zhihui Jun, chairman of Shangwei New Materials and co-founder/CTO of Zhiyuan Robotics — did the honors. He framed the Q1 as a robot you can truly make your own. Want a different face? A quirky personality? A specific walk? You can tweak its appearance, movement style, and even its voice. And yes, it's 3D-printable, so your imagination is the only real limit.

Two Bots, Two Very Different Personalities

The Q1 stands just 88 centimeters tall. That's about knee-high to an adult, but don't let the size fool you — it folds up and slips into a backpack, making it a true grab-and-go companion. Qiyuan calls it "the world's first personal robot," and with its custom structural components, it's clearly aimed at tinkerers and early adopters who want a bot that feels personal.

Then there's the T1, which does something genuinely unusual: it switches between wheeled-legged and quadrupedal forms. Think of it as a transformer for the home. Qiyuan dubs it "the world's first transformable personal robot." Whether you need speed on wheels or stability on four legs, the T1 adapts on the fly.

The Tiny Joint That Makes It All Possible

What's the secret sauce? A joint so small it's almost cute. Qiyuan independently developed what it says is the industry's smallest mass-produced "egg joint." It weighs a mere 260 grams and measures just 47 millimeters across. Despite its size, it delivers a peak torque density of 85 N·m/kg — enough to give these robots serious strength without bulking them up.

That kind of engineering matters. Smaller, lighter joints mean more agile, more energy-efficient robots that can actually fit into daily life. It's a quiet breakthrough that could ripple across the entire humanoid space.

Both the Q1 and T1 kicked off pre-orders on August 23. Pricing hasn't been widely disclosed yet, but given the customization focus and the world-first claims, expect these to attract plenty of attention from hobbyists, researchers, and anyone who's ever dreamed of having a robot sidekick.
