Tesla's Grok AI Expands Across Europe and Asia, Now Controls AC and Glove Box

Tesla has announced a major expansion of its Grok AI assistant, bringing the xAI-powered chatbot to all of Europe and several new Asian countries, including India, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. The rollout is part of the summer 2026 software update, which also introduces enhanced vehicle control features.

From Chatbot to Vehicle Manager

Grok first appeared in Tesla vehicles last summer, but only for U.S. users. Initially, it was a simple chatbot that answered trivia or told stories. Over time, Tesla added natural language navigation and location-based reminders. Now, with the summer update, Grok can directly control hardware. Owners just say "Hey Grok" to make calls, play music, adjust the air conditioning, or even open the glove compartment. Seat ventilation and heating are also voice-controllable.

Future Integration with FSD

Musk confirmed earlier this year that Grok and Full Self-Driving (FSD) are being integrated. The goal is to make Grok a "virtual driver" that understands natural language commands like "park by the roadside" or "change lanes." Last month, Musk said the FSD voice control feature could launch as early as this autumn, with a timeline of about three months. As Grok takes over more functions, drivers may rarely need to touch the central display.
