Tencent Hunyuan has officially launched its new translation app, Tencent Hy Translation. The app is available on mobile, as a mini program, a plugin, and on PC. Just search for "Tencent Hunyuan Translation" to start using it.

Built on the Tencent Hunyuan Hy-MT2 translation model, the app supports mutual translation across 33 languages, including five Chinese minority languages and dialects. It offers multiple ways to translate: voice, photo, and offline.

Offline mode that actually works

One standout feature is offline translation. You can download language packs to your phone ahead of time, so the app keeps working even without internet or with a weak signal. That's a lifesaver when you're traveling abroad or in remote areas.

The app is now available in 12 countries and regions, including the United States, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, and the Chinese regions of Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. Clearly, Tencent is eyeing cross-border and multilingual scenarios.

The tech behind it

The Hy-MT2 translation model was open-sourced in May this year. It supports 33 languages and five minority languages/dialects. Compared to the previous generation Hy-MT1.5, it shows significant improvements in multi-language instruction following, professional field translation, and real-world scenario translation.

By launching the Tencent Hy Translation app, Tencent is bringing those open-source capabilities directly to everyday users. No need to fiddle with APIs or technical setups—just download and go.
