Tencent Cloud's WorkBuddy Just Got a Robot Body, Thanks to Qiyuan

On September 20, consumer robotics brand Qiyuan announced a partnership with Tencent Cloud that puts WorkBuddy—the AI assistant formerly confined to screens—into actual robots. The Q1 and T1 models are now the first embodied intelligence devices to connect with WorkBuddy, marking the assistant's leap from digital helper to physical presence with eyes, ears, hands, and feet.

The setup is straightforward: WorkBuddy is the brain, handling understanding, reasoning, and scheduling thousands of cloud-based Skills. Qiyuan's robots are the body, taking care of interaction and execution with hundreds of embodied atomic capabilities already built in.

From Office Reminders to Bedtime Stories

In the office, WorkBuddy can send a robot to a workstation to remind an employee about a meeting and then lead them to the right conference room. Before the meeting wraps up, the robot can raise its hand and make a voice announcement—no more awkward 'I forgot' moments.

At home, you can remotely tell the robot, 'Tell a dinosaur story to the baby,' and it'll handle the interaction with gestures and expressions. It's like having a helpful little assistant that actually moves.

Four Layers of Safety, Because Robots Can Trip

Giving an AI a body means giving it the ability to bump into things. To prevent that, both companies built four layers of defense: connection permission control, action whitelist verification, simulation preview, and on-site secondary confirmation. Every physical action is checked and double-checked before it happens.

What This Means for Embodied Intelligence

With the WorkBuddy open platform now live, more developers and hardware makers are expected to join in. That could speed up how quickly embodied intelligence moves into workplaces and daily life. For now, Qiyuan and Tencent Cloud have shown that the screen-to-physical-world leap isn't just possible—it's already happening.
