Tencent Cloud's TeamAI Goes Open Source, Slashing Model Costs by 76%

Tencent Cloud has open-sourced TeamAI, a collaboration tool that helps teams manage AI agent skills, configurations, and knowledge through Git. The project, available on GitHub, was released on October 10 and has already climbed onto the trending list.

At its core, TeamAI treats team skills, work standards, tool configurations, and project knowledge like code. Everything lives in a repository, where it can be reviewed, updated, and version-controlled. Once merged, changes sync automatically to each member's agent—no manual copying or pasting. The tool currently supports 16 agents, including WorkBuddy, CodeBuddy, Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor.

How It Works

When a team member submits a new skill, TeamAI automatically creates a branch and opens a merge request for review. After merging, any agent with a session-start hook pulls the latest updates at the beginning of a new conversation. The shared scope also covers MCP tool configurations, rules, and sub-agents. Recently, the team added centralized distribution of model configurations.

But TeamAI doesn't just distribute—it also learns. If a member repeatedly corrects an agent or a tool call fails, the system prompts them to share their experience. The agent then organizes that feedback into documents for future reference. It's a simple loop: correct, document, reuse.

The Numbers That Matter

In an internal test involving 13 R&D tasks, a low-cost model equipped with team knowledge saw its comprehensive score rise by 6.1%. More impressively, the cost of model calls dropped by 76%. That's a significant saving, especially for teams running large-scale AI operations.

Why It Matters

For teams juggling multiple AI agents, keeping everyone on the same page is a headache. TeamAI solves that by making knowledge sharing automatic and version-controlled. It's already integrated into Tencent Cloud's intelligent agent management platform, ClawPro.

So, if you're tired of repeating the same instructions to different agents, TeamAI might be worth a look. After all, a team that learns together, saves together.

Key Points

  • Open Source: TeamAI is now available on GitHub under Tencent Cloud.
  • Git-Based: Manages skills, configurations, and knowledge like code.
  • 16 Agents Supported: Including WorkBuddy, CodeBuddy, Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor.
  • Cost Reduction: 76% lower model call costs in internal tests.
  • Performance Boost: 6.1% higher comprehensive score with team knowledge.
  • Integration: Already part of Tencent Cloud's ClawPro platform.
