Tencent and Chinagoods Bring AI Navigation to Yiwu's 80,000 Shops
Lost in Yiwu's Massive Market? AI Navigation to the Rescue
Yiwu International Trade City is a beast of a marketplace. With over 8 million square meters of operating space, 80,000 shops, and 2.1 million products, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. Traditional navigation apps often fail in such complex indoor environments, where multiple buildings are connected by corridors and bridges. But that's about to change.
On July 20, Tencent Smart Retail and Tencent Maps joined forces with Chinagoods, Yiwu's leading B2B platform, to launch "Chinagoods AI Navigation." This is the industry's first multi-building, cross-bridge indoor and outdoor integrated navigation solution. It promises to guide buyers through the maze of shops with AI-powered route planning, indoor and outdoor navigation, and even AI product recognition.
How It Works
The system is accessible via a WeChat mini-program called "Xiaoshang AI Navigation." Simply type in a merchant name, business number, or product description, and the Tencent Maps navigation engine automatically plots the best route. It can guide you from the third floor of Area 1 to the second floor of Area 4 via a connecting corridor—no more asking for directions. According to test data, store-finding efficiency has improved by nearly 70% compared to traditional methods.
But it gets even smarter. The service integrates Chinagoods' AI product recognition capabilities. Snap a photo of a product you're looking for, and the system matches it to the right store, then navigates you there directly. It also supports multiple languages, creating a seamless link between online browsing and offline purchasing.
What This Means for Merchants
For the 80,000 merchants in Yiwu, this is a game-changer. The WeChat location card feature helps convert online traffic into real-world foot traffic. Shoppers can find products online, then walk straight to the store. Tencent and Chinagoods plan to expand the use of LBS and AI technologies in large-scale commercial settings, aiming to create a replicable model for smart commercial navigation.
