ServiceNow and Anthropic Join Forces to Power Next-Gen Enterprise AI

ServiceNow Bets Big on Multi-Model AI Strategy

In a move that signals its commitment to an open AI ecosystem, enterprise software leader ServiceNow has announced a multi-year partnership with Anthropic. This comes just one week after revealing a similar collaboration with OpenAI - showing the company isn't putting all its AI eggs in one basket.

Claude Takes Center Stage

Under the new agreement, Anthropic's Claude models will become the go-to choice for ServiceNow's AI-driven workflow products. The integration goes deep: Claude is now the default engine for ServiceNow Build Agent, the company's intelligent agent creation tool that helps developers build workflow applications.

"Customers need options," explained ServiceNow COO Amit Zavery when asked about working with competing AI providers. "Different tasks call for different models, and our role is to orchestrate these tools while maintaining strict governance standards."

Internal Transformation

The partnership extends beyond customer-facing products. ServiceNow plans to roll out Claude to its 29,000 employees worldwide, with engineering teams getting early access to Claude Code - Anthropic's AI programming assistant that promises to boost productivity through what developers are calling "vibe-coding."

This internal adoption reflects a growing trend among tech companies eating their own dog food when it comes to AI implementation. Early tests suggest the tools could significantly accelerate both routine office work and complex software development.

Why Multi-Model Matters

ServiceNow's back-to-back deals with OpenAI and Anthropic reveal a clear strategy:

  • Avoid vendor lock-in in the rapidly evolving AI landscape
  • Offer customers model choice for different use cases
  • Maintain flexibility as new players enter the market

The approach mirrors how enterprises typically adopt cloud services - mixing and matching providers based on specific needs rather than going all-in with one vendor.

Key Points:

  • Strategic partnerships: ServiceNow now collaborates with both OpenAI and Anthropic
  • Deep integration: Claude becomes default model for ServiceNow's agent-building tools
  • Internal adoption: Over 20,000 employees will use Claude for daily tasks
  • Enterprise focus: Emphasis on governance and security alongside innovation
