Samsung's 41g AI Glasses: Gemini-Powered, Coming This November

Samsung Enters the AI Glasses Arena with a Lightweight Contender

Samsung is making its first foray into AI smart glasses, and it's doing so with a device that's impressively light. The yet-to-be-named glasses (rumored to be called Galaxy Glasses) are slated for a November 2026 release, and they pack some serious tech into a mere 41-gram frame.

At the heart of the glasses is Qualcomm's Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chip, paired with Android XR and Google's Gemini AI. This combination promises seamless integration of AI features, from real-time translation to contextual information overlays. The glasses also sport a 12-megapixel camera capable of shooting 3K video at 30fps, four microphones, and open speakers for audio without earphones.

Battery life is always a concern with wearables, but Samsung claims up to 9 hours of continuous use on a single charge, extending to 72 hours with the included charging case. That's enough to get you through a full day of meetings or a weekend getaway without hunting for an outlet.

Design and Availability

Samsung isn't going it alone on design. The company has partnered with eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to offer multiple frame styles, ensuring the glasses look as good as they function. Sales will kick off in November at Samsung Experience Stores in the US and on the partners' official websites.

Market Impact

The smart glasses market is heating up. According to Omdia, global annual shipments have already surpassed 4.2 million units. With Samsung's entry, competition with Meta and Apple is set to intensify. Samsung's focus on lightweight design and deep AI integration could give it an edge, especially if the glasses deliver on the promised battery life and seamless Gemini experience.
