Qwen Office quietly launches internal testing, aims to be the all-in-one AI work hub

The AI office space just got a new contender. Qwen Work, an intelligent office platform from the team behind Alibaba's Qwen large language model, has quietly entered internal testing. Positioned as an "AI collaboration hub for professionals," it aims to cover the entire workflow from task assignment to final delivery.

So what does it actually do? The platform bundles six core capabilities: enterprise IM collaboration, one-stop generation and editing of Office documents, multimodal understanding and generation, full-stack web delivery, professional data source aggregation, and a skill market. These are designed to serve a range of professional roles—HR, lawyers, finance folks, analysts—with specialized work packages.

On the communication side, Qwen Work integrates 25 enterprise IM features, including group chat read receipts, attendance approvals, and meeting scheduling. The idea is to keep everything within the same platform, so you don't have to jump between apps to get work done. When it comes to output, the platform supports direct creation and online editing of multiple formats: PPTX, Word, Excel, and even standalone web pages.

But it doesn't stop there. Qwen Work can also tap into e-commerce backends and social media data sources, making it easier to pull in real-world data for analysis. And through its skill market, users can access customized skills and expert packages tailored to specific tasks.

With the desktop client now available for download and a web version on the way, Qwen Work is poised to accelerate the shift toward AI-driven office workflows. The platform emphasizes end-to-end security and compliance, which should appeal to enterprises wary of data leaks.
