OPPO Joins Forces with Manus to Push Mobile AI Beyond Q&A
OPPO and Manus Partner to Make Mobile AI Actually Do Things
OPPO announced yesterday a partnership with AI agent platform Manus, embedding Manus' agent capabilities into OPPO's AI Mind Pilot. The goal? To push mobile AI beyond simple question-and-answer interactions and into multi-step task execution. This feature will first land on the OPPO Find X10 series, which comes pre-installed with ColorOS 17, further advancing OPPO's "personalized proactive intelligence" strategy.

From Chatting to Doing
So what does this actually look like? According to OPPO, the new agent mode in AI Mind Pilot can understand your goals, break down complex tasks into multiple steps, and generate directly usable results by retrieving information and calling tools. It also handles local files and photos on your phone.
Imagine planning a trip: instead of juggling flight tickets, hotel bookings, restaurant reservations, and attraction tickets scattered across different apps, the AI pulls everything together, combines it with online info, and spits out a personalized itinerary. In office scenarios, it can organize photos, summarize local files and online information, and even generate presentations, proposals, and portfolios.
The Brains Behind It
Tang Kai, President of OPPO Software Engineering, said the collaboration aims to enhance AI Mind Pilot's ability to understand user intent, perform operations, and complete tasks. Zhang Tao, co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Manus, believes smartphones are a key platform for personal AI agents, and system-level integration helps lower the barrier for advanced agents.
Privacy: Local First, Consent Required
Of course, handing over your personal data to an AI agent raises eyebrows. OPPO says ColorOS 17 processes local information on the device itself. The original content of tasks like searching, organizing, and renaming files and photos won't be shared with Manus. When cloud processing is involved, the system will obtain explicit user consent beforehand.
This collaboration reflects a broader trend: phone makers are integrating AI agents into operating systems, moving AI from information assistance to actual task execution. It's a shift that could fundamentally change how we interact with our phones—less typing, more doing.
