OPPO and Manus team up: your phone's AI just got a lot more hands-on
OPPO announced yesterday that it's collaborating with AI agent platform Manus to integrate Manus' agent capabilities into OPPO's AI Mind Pilot. The move aims to push mobile AI beyond simple question-and-answer interactions into multi-step task execution. This feature will debut on the OPPO Find X10 series, which comes pre-installed with ColorOS 17, further advancing OPPO's "personalized proactive intelligence" strategy.

From answering questions to getting things done
So what does this mean for you? The new agent mode in AI Mind Pilot can understand your goals, break down complex tasks into steps, and generate usable results by pulling information and calling tools. It also handles local files and photos on your phone.
Imagine planning a trip: the AI gathers flight tickets, hotel bookings, restaurant reservations, and attraction tickets scattered across different apps, then combines that with online info to craft a personalized itinerary. In the office, it can organize photos, summarize local files and web info, and even generate presentations, proposals, and portfolios.
The brains behind the operation
Tang Kai, President of OPPO Software Engineering, said the collaboration is all about boosting AI Mind Pilot's ability to understand user intent, perform operations, and complete tasks. Zhang Tao, co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Manus, believes smartphones are a key platform for personal AI agents, and system-level integration helps lower the barrier for advanced agents.
Privacy: what stays on your phone
OPPO is keen to address privacy concerns. ColorOS 17 processes local information on the device itself, so the original content of tasks like searching, organizing, and renaming files and photos won't be shared with Manus. When cloud processing is involved, the system will ask for your explicit consent beforehand.
This collaboration reflects a broader trend: phone makers are weaving AI agents into operating systems, moving AI from information assistance to actual task execution.
Key Points
- OPPO + Manus: Partnership integrates Manus' agent tech into OPPO's AI Mind Pilot.
- Task execution: AI moves from Q&A to multi-step tasks like trip planning and document creation.
- First rollout: Debuts on OPPO Find X10 series with ColorOS 17.
- Privacy first: Local data stays on-device; cloud processing requires user consent.
- Industry shift: Phone makers are embedding AI agents directly into operating systems.
