OPPO and Manus Join Forces: Your Phone's AI Just Got a Whole Lot Smarter

Remember when your phone's AI assistant could only answer questions like "What's the weather?" or "Set a timer"? Well, those days are quickly fading. OPPO just announced a collaboration with AI agent platform Manus, and together they're pushing mobile AI from simple Q&A to actually getting stuff done.

From Q&A to Task Execution

The new feature, called AI Mind Pilot, will first appear on the OPPO Find X10 series, which comes pre-installed with ColorOS 17. According to OPPO, this isn't just another voice assistant—it's a full-fledged agent that can understand your goals, break down complex tasks, and deliver ready-to-use results.

Here's how it works: say you're planning a trip. Instead of juggling multiple apps for flights, hotels, restaurants, and attraction tickets, AI Mind Pilot pulls all that scattered information together, combines it with online data, and spits out a personalized itinerary. In the office, it can organize photos, summarize local files and web info, and even generate presentations, proposals, and portfolios. Sounds like a dream, right?

Why This Matters

Tang Kai, President of OPPO Software Engineering, explained that the collaboration aims to boost AI Mind Pilot's ability to understand user intent, perform operations, and complete tasks. Zhang Tao, co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Manus, added that smartphones are a crucial platform for personal AI agents, and system-level integration helps lower the barrier for advanced agents.

In other words, you won't need to be a tech whiz to use this—it's built right into your phone.

Of course, with great power comes great responsibility—especially when it comes to your data. OPPO says ColorOS 17 processes local information on the device itself, so the original content of tasks like searching, organizing, and renaming files and photos won't be shared with Manus. If cloud processing is needed, the system will ask for your explicit consent first.

That's a reassuring step, especially as we hand over more of our digital lives to AI.

The Bigger Picture

This collaboration is part of a larger trend: phone manufacturers are racing to integrate AI agents into their operating systems, moving AI from mere information assistance to actual task execution. It's a shift that could fundamentally change how we interact with our devices—less tapping, more talking, and a whole lot more getting done.

So, what do you think? Are you ready to let your phone take the wheel on tasks? The Find X10 series might just be the start of something big.
