OPPO and Manus Join Forces: Your Phone's AI Just Got a Whole Lot Smarter

Imagine asking your phone to plan a weekend getaway, and it actually does it—booking flights, finding hotels, and even snagging restaurant reservations. That's the future OPPO is pushing for with its latest collaboration.

From Q&A to Getting Things Done

OPPO announced yesterday that it's partnering with AI agent platform Manus to integrate Manus' agent capabilities into its AI Mind Pilot. The goal? To move mobile AI beyond simple question-and-answer interactions and into multi-step task execution. This feature will first land on the OPPO Find X10 series, which comes pre-installed with ColorOS 17, as part of OPPO's broader "personalized proactive intelligence" strategy.

So, what does this mean for you? The new agent mode in AI Mind Pilot can understand your goals, break down complex tasks into manageable steps, and generate directly usable results by pulling information and calling tools—all while handling local files and photos on your phone. For instance, if you're planning a trip, the AI can gather flight tickets, hotel bookings, restaurant reservations, and attraction tickets scattered across different apps, then combine that with online info to whip up a personalized itinerary. In the office, it can organize photos, summarize local files and online research, and even generate presentations, proposals, and portfolios.

The Brains Behind the Operation

Tang Kai, President of OPPO Software Engineering, said the collaboration aims to boost AI Mind Pilot's ability to understand user intent, perform operations, and complete tasks. Zhang Tao, co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Manus, believes smartphones are a key platform for personal AI agents, and system-level integration helps lower the barrier for advanced agents.

Privacy Still Matters

Of course, with great power comes great responsibility—especially when it comes to your data. OPPO says ColorOS 17 processes local information on the device itself, so the original content of tasks like searching, organizing, and renaming files and photos won't be shared with Manus. If cloud processing is needed, the system will get your explicit consent first. This collaboration is a clear sign that phone makers are integrating AI agents into operating systems, moving AI from information assistance to actual task execution.

Key Points

  • OPPO partners with Manus to bring agent capabilities to AI Mind Pilot, enabling multi-step task execution on mobile devices.
  • First available on OPPO Find X10 series with ColorOS 17, the feature lets users plan trips, create presentations, and organize files with ease.
  • Privacy is a priority: local data is processed on-device, and cloud processing requires user consent.
  • Industry trend: smartphone manufacturers are increasingly embedding AI agents into operating systems, shifting from assistance to execution.
