OPPO and Manus Join Forces: Your Phone's AI Just Got a Lot Smarter
Imagine asking your phone to plan a weekend getaway, and it actually does it—booking flights, finding hotels, and even snagging restaurant reservations. That's the future OPPO is chasing with its latest collaboration.
OPPO announced yesterday that it's partnering with AI agent platform Manus to integrate Manus' agent capabilities into OPPO AI Mind Pilot. The goal? To push mobile AI beyond simple question-and-answer interactions into multi-step task execution. This feature will debut on the OPPO Find X10 series, which comes pre-installed with ColorOS 17, further advancing OPPO's "personalized proactive intelligence" strategy.
So, what exactly can this new agent mode do? According to OPPO, AI Mind Pilot can now understand your goals, break down complex tasks into multiple steps, and generate directly usable results by retrieving information and calling tools. It also handles local files and photos on your phone. For instance, when planning a trip, the AI can pull together flight tickets, hotel bookings, restaurant reservations, and attraction tickets scattered across different apps, combine that with online info, and spit out a personalized itinerary. In office scenarios, it can organize photos, summarize local files and online information, and even generate presentations, proposals, and portfolios.
Tang Kai, President of OPPO Software Engineering, said the collaboration aims to enhance AI Mind Pilot's ability to understand user intent, perform operations, and complete tasks. Zhang Tao, co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Manus, believes smartphones are a key platform for personal AI agents, and system-level integration helps lower the barrier for advanced agents.
Privacy is always a concern, and OPPO is addressing it head-on. ColorOS 17 processes local information on the device side, so the original content of tasks like searching, organizing, and renaming files and photos won't be shared with Manus. When cloud processing is involved, the system will obtain explicit user consent beforehand. This collaboration reflects a broader trend of phone manufacturers integrating AI agents into operating systems, moving AI from information assistance to actual task execution.

Key Points:
- OPPO partners with Manus to bring agent capabilities to AI Mind Pilot.
- New agent mode executes multi-step tasks, from trip planning to presentation creation.
- Debuts on OPPO Find X10 series with ColorOS 17.
- Local processing ensures privacy; cloud tasks require user consent.
- Signals a shift from AI as a Q&A tool to AI as a task executor.
