OPPO and Manus Join Forces to Turn Mobile AI into a Task Master

OPPO and Manus: From Q&A to Getting Things Done

Your phone's AI assistant might soon do more than just answer questions—it could plan your entire trip. Yesterday, OPPO announced a partnership with AI agent platform Manus to integrate Manus' agent capabilities into OPPO's AI Mind Pilot. The goal? To push mobile AI from simple question-and-answer interactions to multi-step task execution. This feature will debut on the OPPO Find X10 series, which comes pre-installed with ColorOS 17, furthering OPPO's "personalized proactive intelligence" strategy.

What Can It Actually Do?

According to OPPO, the new agent mode of AI Mind Pilot can understand user goals, break down complex tasks into multiple steps, and generate directly usable results through information retrieval and tool calling. It also supports processing local files and photos on the phone.

For example, when planning a trip, the AI can pull together flight tickets, hotel bookings, restaurant reservations, and attraction tickets scattered across different apps, combine that with online information, and generate a personalized itinerary. In office scenarios, it can organize photos, summarize local files and online information, and even generate presentations, proposals, and portfolios.

The Brains Behind It

Tang Kai, President of OPPO Software Engineering, stated that this collaboration aims to enhance AI Mind Pilot's ability to understand user intent, perform operations, and complete tasks. Zhang Tao, co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Manus, believes that smartphones are an important platform for personal AI agents, and system-level integration helps lower the entry barrier for advanced agents.

Privacy: Your Data Stays Yours

OPPO emphasizes that ColorOS 17 processes local information on the device side. The original content of tasks such as searching, organizing, and renaming files and photos will not be shared with Manus. When cloud processing is involved, the system will obtain explicit user consent beforehand. This collaboration reflects a broader trend of phone manufacturers integrating AI agents into operating systems, moving AI from information assistance to actual task execution.
