OpenArt's One-Click Story Feature Fuels AI Video Trend
AIbase Report — OpenArt, a startup founded by former Google employees in 2022, has introduced a groundbreaking feature called "One-Click Story," simplifying AI-powered video creation. The tool allows users to generate one-minute videos with cohesive narratives by inputting just a sentence, script, or song. Currently in public beta, the feature is rapidly gaining traction among young creators.
How It Works
The platform offers three templates: "Character Vlog," "Music Video," and "Explanatory Video." These cater to diverse needs, from TikTok entertainment to YouTube commentary and advertising. OpenArt aggregates over 50 AI models, including DALLE-3, GPT, Imagen, Flux Kontext, and Stable Diffusion, allowing users to customize outputs.
Mao Xiaotong, OpenArt's co-founder and CEO, emphasized the platform's unique ability to maintain character consistency—a common challenge for AI tools. "Our technology ensures visual and narrative coherence, immersing viewers in the story," he said.
Ethical and Legal Challenges
Despite its innovation, OpenArt faces ethical dilemmas. The "Character Vlog" feature risks infringing on intellectual property by generating likenesses of copyrighted characters like Pikachu or SpongeBob. Mao acknowledged the legal gray area but stated the company employs technical safeguards and is open to negotiations with IP holders.
Business Model and Growth
OpenArt operates on a points-based subscription system, with plans ranging from $14 to $56 monthly. Backed by $5 million in funding from Basis Set Ventures and DCM Ventures, the company has achieved positive cash flow and projects annual revenue exceeding $20 million. Future updates may include multi-character dialogues and a mobile app.
Key Points:
- One-Click Story: Generates videos from minimal input using AI.
- Character Consistency: Solves a common AI video challenge.
- Ethical Risks: Potential IP infringement with certain character types.
- Monetization: Subscription-based model with strong financial performance.
