Chinese AI unicorn MiniMax has officially closed a new funding round worth 16 billion HKD (over $2 billion USD), the company announced this morning. The massive capital injection will replenish MiniMax's financial reserves and provide strong support for its upcoming AI infrastructure construction, cutting-edge model research and development, and global commercial expansion.

As one of the most closely watched deals in the global AI sector recently, this financing round triggered an extremely enthusiastic response in the international capital market. The initial fundraising target was approximately $1.8 billion, but due to strong demand from international investors, it was ultimately expanded to over $2 billion. The transaction attracted more than 100 investment institutions, achieving a coverage of 7 times oversubscription.

The investor background of this transaction is extremely strong, covering three major markets: Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the United States. Participating institutions include several top-tier international sovereign wealth funds, long-term funds, leading Chinese institutional investors, and top multi-strategy funds.
