Meituan to Launch NoCode AI Tool for Conversational Development

Meituan is gearing up to introduce NoCode, an AI-driven programming tool aimed at simplifying software development for non-technical users. The platform, developed by Meituan's Quality and Efficiency Team, focuses on "Vibe Coding"—a conversational approach to building applications without writing code. The domain "nocode.cn" has already been registered, and the tool is currently in gray-scale testing.

Unlike traditional developer-centric tools like Cursor or autonomous coding solutions like Devin, NoCode targets a broader audience. It allows users to generate, deploy, and modify code through natural language dialogues. The tool is particularly useful for tasks such as data analysis, prototyping, and creating operational tools. Its underlying Code Agent technology leverages complex logical reasoning to handle file retrieval, log analysis, and database queries efficiently.

Insiders reveal that Meituan's goal is to democratize AI programming, especially for its vast network of small and medium-sized merchants. The idea is to enable these users to develop custom tools as effortlessly as ordering food online. NoCode originated from an internal AI Hackathon in 2023 and has since evolved into a fully integrated solution across multiple business lines. Early adopters include operators and field personnel who have used the tool to prototype functionalities addressing niche demands.

This launch is a cornerstone of Meituan's AI strategy, unveiled by CEO Wang Xing earlier this year. The strategy revolves around three pillars: "AI at Work," "AI in Products," and "Building LLMs." NoCode exemplifies the "AI in Products" initiative, while "CatPaw," another internal tool, boosts developer productivity by generating 50% of Meituan's codebase with an 80% weekly active rate.

Looking ahead, Meituan isn't stopping at NoCode. The company is doubling down on AI investments, with projects like a personalized "life secretary" product under development. Backed by its proprietary "LongCat" large model and aggressive talent acquisition, Meituan is poised for a wave of AI innovations.

The introduction of NoCode underscores Meituan's ambition to bridge the gap between advanced AI capabilities and everyday usability. As the tool rolls out, it could redefine how non-programmers interact with technology in China's fast-evolving digital landscape.

Key Points

  1. Meituan's NoCode tool enables application development through conversational AI.
  2. The platform targets non-technical users, particularly small businesses and operators.
  3. NoCode integrates advanced Code Agent technology for complex task execution.
  4. This release aligns with Meituan's broader AI strategy focusing on workplace and product innovation.
  5. Future projects include AI-driven personalized services powered by the LongCat model.
