KFC Teams Up With Qwen App for AI-Powered Fast Food Orders

KFC Embraces AI Ordering Through Qwen Partnership

Fast food just got smarter. KFC China has partnered with Alibaba's Qwen AI assistant to revolutionize how customers order their fried chicken. As of June 3rd, hungry patrons can now skip the line by simply telling their phone what they crave.

"Picture this: You're rushing to catch a train at Guangzhou East Station," explains KFC's digital innovation lead. "Instead of standing in line, just tell Qwen 'Get me a spicy chicken burger from the nearest KFC - I'll be there in 10 minutes.' The AI handles the rest."

How It Works

The system combines several smart features:

  • Location-aware ordering: Automatically finds your nearest KFC from over 13,000 nationwide locations
  • Personalized recommendations: Suggests meal combos based on time of day and past orders
  • Seamless payments: Links directly to your Alipay or membership account
  • Real-time updates: Shows exact pickup times and walking distance to your chosen store

Membership perks get smarter too. The AI automatically applies your KFC Super Card discounts and eligible coupons without needing to dig through your wallet for promo codes.

The Future of Fast Food

KFC isn't stopping at basic orders. The chain is testing advanced "Agent" services that could:

  • Plan group meals for offices or families
  • Schedule future orders for regular lunch routines
  • Balance nutritional needs with indulgent cravings

"This is about making fast food truly frictionless," says Qwen's product manager. "Your phone already knows your schedule, location and tastes - why shouldn't it handle lunch too?"

  • Voice commands replace traditional ordering
