DingTalk Shakes Up Leadership as AI Takes Center Stage

DingTalk's AI-Driven Transformation

In a move that underscores the growing importance of artificial intelligence in workplace technology, DingTalk announced a sweeping reorganization today. The Alibaba-owned enterprise platform is merging its AI teams and restructuring its leadership to prioritize AI development.

The big change? Chen Yusen, who heads both DingTalk and the Wukong Business Unit, revealed in an internal memo that the company is combining its Wukong team with the MuleRun AI Agent group. Shu Junliang, former CTO of MuleRun, will lead the newly consolidated team.

Building the AI Backbone

The reshuffle doesn't stop there. DingTalk is creating a Core Platform Business Department under former CTO Zhu Hong (Yisu). This unit will oversee critical operations while six sales and support teams consolidate into a single Customer Development Department. The company is also launching dedicated Marketing and IT departments.

"This isn't just about rearranging boxes on an org chart," explains tech analyst Li Wei. "DingTalk's betting big that AI agents will transform how businesses collaborate. They're putting their best technical minds in charge of making that happen."

Why MuleRun Matters

MuleRun isn't just another internal project. Originally developed within Alibaba Cloud under Chen's leadership, this AI Agent technology now takes center stage in DingTalk's strategy. Its integration suggests the platform plans to bake sophisticated AI assistance directly into its collaboration tools.

Industry watchers see this as part of a broader trend. "Every major workplace platform is racing to implement AI," notes Shanghai-based tech journalist Maya Lin. "But DingTalk's approach stands out because they're not just adding chatbots—they're rebuilding their architecture around AI agents."

What Comes Next

The reorganization raises questions about how quickly these changes will reach users. While DingTalk hasn't shared a public timeline, sources suggest new AI features could roll out as early as Q4 2026.

For businesses using DingTalk, the message is clear: smarter, more automated workplace tools are coming. Whether this transformation delivers on its promises remains to be seen, but one thing's certain—DingTalk isn't content to simply follow the AI trend. They're reshaping their entire company to lead it.
