DingTalk Shakes Up Its Structure to Bet Big on AI Agents

DingTalk Doubles Down on AI with Major Restructuring

In a bold move to supercharge its AI capabilities, DingTalk announced a significant organizational shakeup today. The company's new CEO Chen Yusen outlined the changes in an internal letter that positions artificial intelligence at the heart of DingTalk's future strategy.

Merging AI Teams for Greater Impact

The most notable change comes with the merger of two powerhouse AI teams. The Wukong team, known for its business applications, will now join forces with the MuleRun team - an AI Agent product developed under Chen Yusen's leadership at Alibaba Cloud. Shu Junliang, former CTO of MuleRun, will lead this combined unit.

"This integration isn't just about combining resources," explains a company insider. "It's about creating a unified vision for how AI agents can transform workplace collaboration from the ground up."

New Departments for a New Era

Alongside the AI team merger, DingTalk is establishing several key departments:

  • The Core Platform Business Department, led by former CTO Zhu Hong (Yisu), will oversee critical platform operations
  • A consolidated Customer Development Department brings together sales and support teams
  • New Marketing and Information Technology departments complete the restructuring

Why This Matters Now

This reorganization comes at a pivotal moment for enterprise software. As businesses increasingly demand smarter collaboration tools, DingTalk appears determined to stay ahead of the curve. The company's decision to put AI veteran Shu Junliang in charge of the merged teams suggests a strong focus on practical AI applications rather than just research.

"We're not just adding AI features to existing products," a DingTalk spokesperson told us. "We're rethinking how work gets done in an AI-first world."

Key Points:

  • Team Integration: Wukong and MuleRun teams merge under Shu Junliang's leadership
  • New Structure: Core Platform Business Department and other new units established
